As a disclaimer, the author was my mechanics teacher for this course. The book is second to none, and is easily on par with any Griffiths text. Dr. Hamill explains difficult concepts in a clear and concise fashion while paying strict attention to the necessary physics, all in a conversational tone; his writing style is thus similar to Griffiths.Although I had a draconian mechanics instructor for my graduate course, I was able to survive primarily because of this book and that course. I even found it an excellent text for studying for the qualifier, although it is only on an undergraduate level.
